A reported 14”-19” -inch base greeted skiers and boarders who flocked to the resort today for first tracks, following a series of storms last week. They also got the chance to ride Boreal’s new Castle Peak Quad (pictured), installed during the off-season.

The chair will replace the existing Gunnar’s and Claimjumper chairs, increasing base area capacity on beginner/novice runs and evolution parks. The new lift will take skiers and riders to a slightly higher end point than the Gunnar’s chair, offering terrain to the resorts mid-mountain.

Early skiers receive a discounted rate of $30 for full day tickets.

Over the next couple weeks several more Tahoe-area resorts plan to open … and the forecast calls for another storm this weekend to deepen the base. So get your skis or board waxed and get to Reno-Tahoe!
